The Story of the Fo Ho

During world war II, the United States had a military base here in Fortaleza. The American soldiers created spaces called Four Hours, where they could interact with women and take care of their personal needs, if you know what I mean. They were basically clubs where they played Brazilian music and the soldiers would interact with the local Brazilian women.

After the war when the soldiers left, the Brazilians kept these clubs open as a social gathering place. In portuguese, r's are pronounced like h's, therefore, Four Hour become Fo Ho.

Interesting.
